Ginger Baker and Jack Bruce had both played in The Graham Bond Organisation

They did not get on - to the point of sabotaging each other's equipment on stage

Ginger ended up running the band and decided to sack Bruce

Jack took no notice of being sacked, however, and kept on turning up to gigs until Baker finally chased him off at knife point

Bruce finally got the message...but Ginger was understandably startled at Eric's proposal...
